The purpose is to study letters from different traditions and contexts in Scandinavia ca 1810-1920 from four aspects: genre, confession, gender, and spirituality. The exchange between older traditions, soul-caring letters, and new traditionalising has created a form of communication with a deep influence on religious development of tradition. Printed collections rise source-critical problems.
