Welcome
Welcome to the Nordic conference Ritual Practices in Indian Religions and Contexts arranged by the Department of History and Anthropology of Religions, Centre for Theology and Religious Studies, in cooperation with the academic journal Chakra – Tidskrift för indiska religioner. The conference will be held at Akademiska föreningen (The Academic Society) opposite the main University Building in the centre of Lund.
The conference aims at initiating an interdisciplinary dialogue on various aspects of Indian religions and ritual practices in India as well as in other contexts, such as diaspora communities outside Asia. The conference wants to emphasize different perspectives on ritual practices and encourage new theoretical and methodological approaches in the field.
The response to our first announcement has been very positive. Students and scholars from Denmark. England, Finland, Germany, India, Norway, Sweden and the USA have registered and will present papers within the different panels. Consequently, we are now inviting graduate students and scholars to attend the conference and participate in the scholarly discussions without presenting papers.
