Lillian Larsen is an Assistant Professor of Early Christianity in the Religious Studies Department at the University of Redlands (Redlands, CA). In addition she serves as a guest researcher in Lund University's "Early Monasticism and the Classical Paideia" project. Lillian holds a Doctorate in Philosophy from Columbia University in New York City, a Masters of Divinity and a Masters of Arts in Theology from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, and a Masters in Education from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Her dissertation research offers a re-reading of the Apophthegmata Patrum in light of ancient models of education. Her ongoing work focuses on the place and shape of literate education in early monastic formation.
